Every moment is potentially magic!

It's 2020 and another year and decade has rolled in quietly on us. Thank you for checking out this version of my photographic oddyssey. I continue to have a wonderful time on trails and with friends ... challenging myself to hopefully improve my art along the way!

Every

Every time I pick up my camera, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to be living in Florida, with nature's every wonder knocking on my door.

Moment

Appreciating each moment that unfolds, my photography success is as much a function of being in the right place at the right time, as any skill I have.

Counts

And appreciating what exists for an eager lens, is the driving force behind each stoop, stretch, or bend. Finding the shot that makes a difference.

An old dog still learning new tricks

Sometimes, you plan a path forward. And other times, you just stumble into a new area that you hadn't even thought about. Late summer evening had me driving out of Tampa with lightning carving up the skies around me.

I had to wait until I exited the interstate to be able to grab my camera and without any skills or poise, managed to get just one shot off before Morher Nature decided she was done with the lightning. I wasn't even sure if I had gotten anything and thankfully I did.

It wasn't anything overly mind-blowing, but it did light a fuse within me that made me want to find out more about shooting lightning. It is so unpredictable and a little on the dangerous side when you are in the middle of it, but there is a skill that improves the odds and I am determined to learn it.

That's my main photographic goal for 2020. It's not guaranteed that I will come up a winner, but hey, if we don't try, then we never know, right?

The journey continues!

It is difficult for me to come to grips with the time that is hastening on since I lost my Mam and Dad. They were the inspiration behind my nature quest and almost every step I take on the trails still, I feel their presence with me. Sometimes I talk to them and cry a soft tear that they can't get to see and feel the magic that I feel on this journey. But that's OK; they feel how my heart recharges with every step I take. Because that's where they continue to live.
